Our Story

James Lake Farms is a certified organic cranberry marsh in beautiful Northern Wisconsin, just south of Three Lakes. We are a family owned business and have owned the James Lake property since 2006.  In 2016 we purchased the local Thunder Lake marsh and converted it to organic production.

The marshes were originally started in late 1940’s and several of our beds date from this time.

Additional acres have been planted over the years and today we grow 189 acres of certified organic cranberries with twelve different fruit varieties.

Owners, John and Nora Stauner, are committed to growing a product that can make a difference in peoples lives.

Our leadership team includes our oldest son, Ben, and Tom Drozd, our long time manager.  With the help of a handful of salaried employees and an excellent group of season workers - James Lake Farms harvests about 2 million lbs of fruit each fall.  The fall harvest is the culmination of an entire year worth of effort to grow this unique perennial crop.

Our marsh holds the future of our family. It is our wish that our produce will support generations to come and to keep working in a family farm mindset - even as our farm grows. We have raised our children here, and now our children are doing the same. Our heart and soul goes into growing fruit that is not only good for the earth, but also good for people.
